Some residents shared evidence of rain in parts of KwaZulu Natal, on Sunday, including in Thornville and Uvongo.

The Weather Service (SAWS) warned against severe thunderstorms over most part of KwaZulu-Natal, at Level 2, on Monday.

Damaging winds are expected over eastern parts of the Free State, the western and eastern parts of KwaZulu-Natal (at Level 2).

Meteorologists have spotted a looming low-pressure system, developing near the Seychelles.

The system, according to the Severe Weather and Information Centre of Southern Africa (SWAICSA) said on social platforms, that “forecasts indicate a low chance of tropical cyclone development initially (Monday, 19 October 2026), potentially increasing to a moderate chance later in the week (Wednesday, 21 October 2026).”

Should that system intensify, it could be called AGUEDA.

Moreover, a cold front, accompanied by a steep upper-air trough, is moving across the central and south-eastern parts of South Africa.

Rainy conditions which are in KZN on Sunday, could spread to parts of North West and Gauteng, as well as wider areas of the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal, and parts of Eswatini, by Monday.
