City Power has announced its readjusted loadshedding blocks, effective from Monday, the 31st March 2025.

The significance of this action, is to allow the exclusion of essential services from loadshedding.

Isaac Mangena, Spokesperson of City Power, said “these changes are aimed at improving our operational efficiency during the loadshedding process, minimising disruptions, and ensuring more effective management of power distribution across all our supply areas.”

This latest development follows a court ruling,  which requested the exclusion of some essential services and the load curtailment agreements signed with Large Power Users (LPUs) and businesses.

Mangena said as required by the regulator, the peak load for each substation measured in megawatts (MW) is used to determine the overall load for the block.

Each block totals 120 Megawatts (MW).

City Power has also revised the loadshedding schedule based on substations, to include 4 hours without electricity, for Stage 5-8.

Lower stages of loadshedding are expected to remain at 2 hours without electricity.
