Areas supplied by at least five reservoirs may experience reduced water pressure.
The reservoirs are Klipriviersberg, Klipfontein, Airfield, Northridge, Brakfontein and Hartebeesthoek.
Affected water users are in the City of Johannesburg, City of Ekurhuleni and City of Tshwane, as well as the Madibeng Local Municipality and various industries.
Rand Water said this is due to an electrical cable fault at its Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant.
The incident affects pumping capacity at the Palmiet Booster Pumping Station.
“The Rand Water technical team has started replacing the damaged electrical cable. While the replacement work is underway, pumping at Palmiet Booster Pumping Station is expected to remain at approximately 70% of normal capacity” said Makenosi Maroo, Spokesperson of Rand Water.
The estimated completion time is not yet available.
