The City of Tshwane has called on residents to report illegal dumping.
In a statement, the City says illegal dumping is harmful and poses a threat to the environment.
“Open fields and spaces are essential areas of our communities. They provide fresh air, space for recreational activities, and a sense of natural beauty.”
The City also says there are illegal recycling areas in Tshwane, that lead to pollution, health risks and ecosystem degradation.
” To protect our open areas, we must all work together to stop unlawful recycling, to safeguard these precious resources.”
A penalty for illegal dumping in SA could amount to R5K or 2 years in prison.
