The reservoir in Yeoville was not poisoned, contrary to social media posts.
Johannesburg Water (Joburg Water) dispelled claims of poisoning on Sunday.
Joburg Water said there is firstly no evidence to support the claim.
This is from 12 months of monitoring water quality, against expected SANS 241, the South African National Standard for drinking water.
“We also want to assure residents that its reservoirs are secure facilities with controlled access and are not accessible to the public” said Joburg Water, in an update.
The local water utility also announced interrupted supply at various areas, including a burst water pipe at the corner of Clulee and Ronald Roads, in Linbro Park, corner of Troupant and at Glenien Streets in Magaliesig.
A contractor is on site there, with the team pumping water out of the excavation while welding is underway.
Fire hydrants were opened to reduce water pressure in the pipeline, allowing repairs to be carried out safely.
