Several roads are flooded in Boksburg, East of Johannesburg, following heavy rains on Sunday.

Cars were reportedly stuck in the water, under the bridge -Railway Road, Boksburg and on 10th Avenue, Ravenswood.

The Ekurhuleni Emergency Services (EMS) has cautioned residents about slippery roads and rising water levels in nearby suburbs, as well. 

As a result, residents are urged to avoid low-lying roads and all underpasses, reduce speed and not to try drive through the water.

Similarly, the Belgrave low-lying bridge in Bryanston, is currently overflowing, due to heavy rains.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned against severe thunderstorms (at an orange level 6) over northern Gauteng and the western parts of Limpopo, with a high risk of damaging winds, hail and heavy downpours.

Similar but lesser conditions are expected at Level 4, across the north-eastern regions, including eastern Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
