Residents of Alma, part of the Modimolle-Mookgophong Local Municipality, could be moving to a better area, away from risks of floods.

This emerged on Wednesday, during the Mayor’s visit to flood victims.

Anna Mboweni, the Mayor of Modimolle-Mookgophong Local Municipality, visited areas affected by floods some two months ago.

Mboweni said several families were left stranded after their homes were severely affected by flooding, highlighting the urgent need for a long-term solution to ensure the safety and wellbeing of affected residents.

She was accompanied by Sinah Langa, Speaker of the Municipality and Mokgadi Dayimani, the Chief whip.

She also donated essential relief items to some of the residents who were affected by m floods, providing much-needed support to families still recovering from the disaster.

Over 500 households were displaced by January floods.

Properties were also damaged including  bridges, and roads across Modimolle, Mookgophong, Alma, and Vaalwater.
