Snow was measured at a meter deep, in Northern Drakensberg, but most roads have been cleared and motorists who were trapped, were rescued.
Mop up operations are underway.
Government advised citizens, on Sunday, to remain patient, while emergency teams continue to work on clearing the snow and restoring accessibility.
The number of people who lost their lives, has increased to two, due to hypothermia.
On Sunday afternoon, about 1,823 vehicles were reported to be stranded on the N3 (Suburban Control Center).
