Mpumalanga authorities announced a high density focus on roads infamous for crashes and fatalities during previous holiday periods.
Jackie Macie, Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, announced officials will conduct road blocks, test vehicle roadworthiness and driver fitness.
Routes include the N4, N2, N11, N12, N17, R38, R573, R568, R23 and R581.
He also said rest stops would be provided for motorists travelling across the province, throughout the Easter long weekend.
Vhembe
The Mukula Road is closed in the Vhembe district, following floods.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes including the D3701.
Oudtshoorn
While Meiringspoort pass was reopened, over the weekend, following flooding and rockfalls, the Swartberg Pass remains closed.
The Swartberg Pass (route between Princed Albert and Oudtshoorn) remains closed due to large rocks on roadways and slippery road conditions.
