About 6.58 million international visitors landed in South Africa, between January and July 2026.
Statistics South Africa (StatsSA) said this is a 12.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
In July 2026, some 991,696 internationals arrived.
In June 2026, about 823,365 arrivals were recorded.
StatsSA also said in an update that visitors to the Southern Africa region, by other African residents, grew by 14.3%, between January and June this year.
South Africans (domestic visitors) made up 21.2 million overnight trips in the first half of 2026.
This contributed to a rise in holidaying by at least 36%, but these were shorter stays with m lower average spend, in the second quarter.
