Workers have begun conducting detailed land surveys using specialised levelling equipment at Seweding Village in Ward 20.
Their plan is to amend a 2.7-kilometre road linking Mmaphatswa, Scrapyard and Bray Road.
The village was cut off during recent heavy rainfall and flooding.
Moreover, homes and infrastructure were damaged.
The village has also had sewage spills mix with stormwater, and spilling onto yards and streets.
The Mahikeng Local Municipality said technical assessments are essential in ensuring that road alignment, drainage systems and construction standards meet engineering requirements.
The survey teams have also been marking and setting out the road corridor, collecting field data and preparing the site for the next phases of construction.
