The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a warning against large amounts of small hail on Christmas, for parts of the highveld.
Scattered thundershowers accompanied by strong winds and hail, could come later on Christmas Day, over South-western Limpopo, Eastern North West, Gauteng, Western Mpumalanga, Western Free State and the Interior of the Eastern Cape.
Meteorologists at the Severe Weather and Information Centre (Swaicsa) forecast a cool day along the west coast, and a warm one, in most parts of the country.
Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected to continue over the western and the extreme south-eastern parts of the Matzikama Local Municipality in the Western Cape.
