Results of a recent cut -off low pressure system, led to snow in the Sani Pass, in parts of KZN and Lesotho over the weekend. Today it was snowing in Harrismith.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has predicted very cold weather for most of the country in the next few days, including the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State, Limpopo Gauteng, Mpumalanga and the North West.

A fire broke out in the informal areas of Khayelitsha, in Cape Town on Sunday evening. About 150 homes were flattened by the fire and 2 people died.


The South African Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, also reported aviries were affected by storms and strong winds. The center has requested assistance of about R5200, to rebuild the facility.

The Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) has cautioned motorists to stay within restricted speed limits when driving in the rain.
