Liebherr and Transnet Port Terminals signed a 10-year partnership agreement.

Under the new agreement, Transnet will order  four large STS cranes for the Port of Durban, which are currently being assembled in South Africa. 

About 48 RTG cranes were ordered in multiple batches for the Durban and Cape Town terminals. 

Once commissioned, these units will significantly enhance operational capacity and efficiency. 

Jabu Mdaki, Transnet Port Terminals’ Chief Executive, said through the agreement, Transnet will also have a 20-year asset management programme,  which will  include maintenance, repairs, and parts management. Liebherr will provide local parts and service engineers, guaranteeing a prompt and efficient response to operational needs when required.
