The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has predicted the severe tropical storm (ALVARO), is moving in an East-South-East direction. It is moving at 18km/hour, with no impact to South Africa.

Tropical Storm Alvaro started in the Morombe District, in Madagascar, on the evening of January 01st.

Club Mozambique said yesterday, the system was around 389 km (242 miles) southwest of Antananarivo. Forecast models indicate that Alvaro will weaken around the 05th of January.

Right now it continues through an Easterly direction, across southern Madagascar to exit into the Indian Ocean by the 3rd January 2024.
