Two people were arrested by Metro Police Officers, in Nelson Mandela Bay, for cable theft, on Wednesday.
The two were at it, when the Bay’s first citizen tipped off the the police.
The suspects were arrested in possession of stolen copper cables at Kwadesi, Peserverance Road.
Advocate Andrew Moses, Metro Police Acting Commissioner, announced the apprehension of the two as well as the confiscation of copper cables valued at R24 000.
The suspects were detained at the KwaDwesi police station.
“The Metro Police department is committed to the fight against vandalism and the theft of municipal infrastructure. We also applaud the vigilance of the Executive Mayor in working with the department and alerting us of a possible crime. Vigilant Metro Police officers have issued two arrests on suspects caught with municipal copper cables” said Moses.
