President Cyril Ramaphosa is visiting Mjejane/Dindela, one of the most affected areas by floods in Mpumalanga.

Mandla Ndlovu, Premier of Mpumalang,  MECs, the Executive Mayors and Members of the Mayoral Committee as well as Inkosi Lugedlane Wesibili , are part of the President’s entourage.

They are also expected to make it to Komatipoort/Orlando and Mangweni.

Limpopo

The Mabunda family from Humulani Village (Ward 13) is mourning the tragic death of a two-year-old child. 

The child’s father, said the incident occurred in a pit toilet while the toddler was playing outdoors. 

Pule Shayi, Mopani Executive Mayor and Merriam Malatji, Ba-Phalaborwa Mayor, visited the Mabunda home, to offer condolences to the bereaved family.

Both the Greater Giyani and Ba Phalaborwa Municipalities reported more road closures.

Inaccessible roads in Giyani overnight, are Mageva to Makhuva road, Maphata to Munghonghoma, Ndhambi to Xitlakati either via Mayephu or Mphakani.

Ba Phalaborwa said the R71 near Lulekani Intersection, has a stop-and-go in operation, the R40 Sellati River Bridge has collapsed.

The R40 from MICA towards Phalaborwa is closed due to a large sinkhole.

The R578 Selwane Road is closed at Letaba Bridge, with no access to Giyani via Letaba Bridge.

The D3790 Makhushane Bridge has one lane that is temporarily open.

D3786 Mashishimale bridge collapsed,  near the Lejori Lifestyle Centre.
