UThukela District Municipality said areas worst affected by weekend rains in KwaZulu Natal, are Nhlalwe, Ngodini and Thembalihle.
Thembelihle Nqubuka, Speaker of UThukela District, said no lives were lost as a result of the storm.
“We are, however, thankful that so far we have not heard any reports of loss of lives or injuries. We also wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the victims of this devastating event” she said.
Jabulani Mkhonza, Spokesperson of the Municipality said in a statement, the rapid-response disaster management teams were deployed to affected areas.
He also said teams were able to distribute relief stock according to each household’s needs, including corrugated iron sheets, plastic sheets, sanitary packs, sponges and kitchen sets.
