The level of water in dams in the Gert Sibande District, in Mpumalanga, is on the decline.
The DWS weekly state of reservoirs report, shows the worst decline is in the Westoe dam, where levels have gone from 34,7% to 34,5%.
Grootdraai Dam dropped from 69.8% to 68.9%, Nooitgedacht Dam from 74.7% to 74.2%, Vygeboom Dam from 85.3% to 83.3%, Jericho Dam from 60.6% to 59.4%, Morgenstond Dam from 63.7% to 62.8%, and Heyshope Dam from 94.6% to 94.4%.
According to the DWS weekly report, the average dam levels in the Mpumalanga Province dropped from 76.9% to 75.6%.
In the Water Management Areas, the Limpopo-Olifants WMA dropped from 67.1% to 65.8% and the
Inkomati-Usuthu WMA dropped from 79.2% to 78.1%.
Other districts in Mpumalanga, that have recorded declines, are in Ehlanzeni District, where a drop in f under 2% was recorded, from 73.3% to 71.5%, and Nkangala District from 78.8% to 76.8%.
As a result, the Department of Water and Sanitation, calls for more conservative use of available water.
