Talbot the Art of Water released results of water samples taken in various points of beaches in eThekwini.
All results published on the 14th December 2023, indicate water in the following areas is compliant with water quality standards of the Department of Water Affairs : Point Beach, uShaka Beach, South Beach, North Beach, Battery Beach and Country Club Beach.
It is not clear how such excellent results were achieved in less than a week of last results published, but questions were sent to both eThekwini Municipality and Adopt a River, who are partners in testing water in the City’s beaches.
Water samples taken at uMngeni River show critical levels of E.coli.
The Northern Works, Kingfisher Canoe Club and Riverside all had dangerously high levels, exceeding levels acceptable for recreational water, according to the Department of Water Affairs guidelines.
Today the eThekwini Municipality took to social media, saying South Beach was packed with visitors enjoying the public holiday yesterday.
They also thanked visitors for keeping the beach tidy by disposing of waste, using the street litter bins, placed along the beachfront.
