These areas are Atteridgeville, Attlyn, Kalafong Heights, Kalafong Hospital, SAPS Academy, Pretoria West in Kwaggasrand, Waalmansthal, Mamelodi and Pretoria East.
In a statement, the City said water tankers were kept overnight to cater for maternity and casualty wards.
There are about 10 water trucks supplying 14 wards.
Matthews Molobela, a Councillor in Tshwane, said Rand Water is currently charging lines, subsequent to maintenance work on the Mapleton system yesterday.
It may take up to 2 weeks to recover the system.
Some residents of Tshwane have resorted to using water in fire hydrants.
Maria Bloem, a resident, has taken to social media, to caution people against using water in their fire hydrants.
Thembela Ngqoshana said “if it’s not loadshedding, then it’s water…”
The work at Zuikerbosch Water
Treatment Plant (ZWTP) Engine Room 2, which resumed on Monday, 29 July 202, is the last leg of infrastructure maintenance, which kickstarted on the 22nd June 2024.
Work is expected to last for forty (40) hours.
Rand Water said areas recover differently after the maintenance process due to different hydraulics designs of the systems which indicates that some areas will recover earlier than others.
During this week’s maintenance, about 76% will be pumped from the Palmiet station, affecting areas in Johannesburg, Tshwane, Ekurhuleni and the Madibeng LocalMunicipality in the North-West.
