Johannesburg Water (JW) said throttling (reducing the flow of water) is underway in two Regions on Wednesday, from 06am until 6pm in Region D, Meadowlands, Soweto and Region C in Cosmo City.

The local water utility said throttling is a measure to reduce high consumption in these areas.

“This strategy aims to regulate demand and protect reservoir capacities” said the utility in a notice to residents.

Both the outlet and inlet of reservoirs are closed on Wednesday.

Nearby areas located in Region D, there is also no water due to unplanned maintenance. JW said maintenance would continue until 8pm, affecting Doornkop, Snake Park, Leratong Village, Thulani, Lufhureng, and parts of Protea Glen and Tshepisong.

Planned maintenance on Wednesday, the 09 April 2025, from 7am until 6pm, is due to Eskom’s work on the Daleside Substation. The substation supplies Rand Water with electricity.
