An estimated 4, 000 Zama Zamas (illegal miners) are trapped underground the Stilfontein mine in the North West.
Some have even died there, due to having no food and water for months.
A body was recovered by the community, and Athlenda Mathew, SAPS Spokesperson, also said a decomposed body was recovered from the disused Stilfontein mine shaft in the North West.
Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, Minister in the Presidency, said the government will not be sending any help for scores of illegal miners trapped underground.
