More than 100 shops were gutted down by a fire that broke out in Kantamanto market, in the early hours of Thursday morning, the 02nd January 2025.
13 trucks were dispatched by the Ghana National Fire Service, to quell the fire.
No casualties were reported as a result of the fire.
Mop up operations are underway and traders trying to recover what they can after the fire.
A civil society group, “Fix Ghana Now” appealed to the police to attend to the scene, as people were seen cutting and selling the burnt shops and containers to scrap dealers.
“Why will people’s shops get burnt and instantly others are busy cutting their shop containers and other metals and selling them instantly on the location?”
