Two suspects, both aged 38, were arrested for stock theft of an estimated street value of R100 000.

The pair were arrested between Leslie and Devon Road, N17, in Mpumalanga, during the early hours of Tuesday morning, the 04 November 2025.

The police said in a statement, they were conducting regular search operations when they noticed a white bakkie with a canopy and a Gauteng registration number, driving towards Devon.

They stopped the vehicle, searched it and found five carcasses of slaughtered cattle.

The driver could not provide a valid explanation for being in possession of the meat.

The two were then arrested for stock theft.

The brand-marked carcasses were also booked into a SAPS storage, along with the vehicle, for a further investigation.
