About 26 cattle suspected to be stolen, were confiscated by the police in a sting operation in Verena on Thursday.

A man was also arrested and questioned about the livestock.

Another, was fined for being in possession of unbranded livestock.

Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, said a Police Chopper as well as other resources were availed during Thursday’s operation to strengthen the Stocktheft Unit.

“We have taken the complaints made by stocktheft owners very seriously and have responded with concrete action to address this issue once and for all” said Mkhwanazi.
