4 people from Tweefontein Village were  hospitalised due to smoke inhalation, the Free State Umbrella Fire Protection Association (FSUFPA) said in an update on Monday midday.

This is as a result of a fire that broke out at the Black Mountain hotel, in Thabanchu.
The FSUFPA said there was extensive loss of  stock and game species in the fire.
The Fire was contained at 2am on Monday morning (the 19th August 2024).

Other fires in the same Region, were also contained, including the Glen Fire, where no injuries or fatalities were reported by Sunday evening (the 18th August 2024).

However, there is an active fire on the Eastern Free State, Clarens.
The local Fire Protection Association and  3 Working on Fire Teams, are battling that fire, which started in the early hours of Monday morning, the 19th August 2024.

The FSUFPA said there are currently no damages as a result of that fire, and no lives affected.
