Five men suspected to be rhino poachers were gunned down, in Hluhluwe, KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday evening.

The police said the suspects were travelling along the R618 Road towards a game reserve.

The police then acted on information received, and set up a stop and search operation along that same road.

The suspects arrived at the roadblock, and a shootout ensued between the police and the men.

All five were shot and killed.

The police said they later found a hunting rifle with a silencer and two pistols, in the men’s vehicle.
