An earthquake with a magnitude of 7,0 struck Linos, General City of Santos, in the Phillipines, on Monday evening.
The tremor occurred at around 7:37 am, local time.
There was strong shaking across the Mindanao region. As a result, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) issued a coastal tsunami advisory.
Some buildings were damaged including schools in Matanao and Davao del Sur.
There is also interrupted electricity supply in the General Santos City.
Schools are closed following the damage, in parts of the City.
Authorities urged residents to remain vigilant as aftershocks may follow.
