Transport infrastructure was allocated 75% of the total budget in the Northern Cape.
Fufe Makatong, MEC of Roads and Public Works, tabled the budget vote on Tuesday, in Galeshewe, Kimberley.
Of the R2.347 billion allocated, some R98 million, will go towards the Yellow Fleet, the Phakamile Mabija Apprenticeship Programme, and the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP).
She also committed her Department to tackling construction site disruptions, strengthening partnerships with municipalities and the private sector, rebuilding flood-damaged roads, and ensuring that infrastructure investment benefits communities across all five districts of the province.
She also committed to expanding artisan training, and creating more than 22,000 EPWP work opportunities during the 2026/27 financial year.
