Four people were killed in Gaborone by floods, which began on the 16th February 2025.

According to the European Commission’s Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations, the floods affected the south-eastern areas of Gaborone, in Botswana.

An undisclosed number of people were displaced, buildings and roads flooded, and schools temporarily closed across the country.

The Botswana Meteorological Organization has warned the storm is not over yet, as more rain is predicted in the Central and North East Districts.
Strong wind of a speed of between 26 – 36km/ hr are expected to accompany the rain.
