About 84 bodies were recovered from Lake Kariba, after ferry Mbuya Nehanda capsized, last week (11 August 2026).
There were 77 people rescued from the incident, from a suspected 160 passengers and crew.
C. Chitiyo, Director of Local Government Services (L.G.S) for Mashonaland West Province, said in a statement last week, the boat has a capacity of 90 passengers, but carried more, on that fateful day.
Some victims were buried on Friday and Saturday, at the John Range Cemetery.
Others were transported to rural areas such as Gokwe and other regional districts.
