About nine (9) people were killed by Tropical System “Gezani.”

Gezani, a cyclone named by South African meteorologists, landed  in Madagascar on Tuesday evening, with intense wind gusts of up to 260 km/h.

The system has weakened and was downgraded, as a result.

Meteorologists at the Severe Weather and Information Systems (Swaicsa) said the system is expected to cross the island from east to west on Wednesday, exiting into the Mozambique Channel on Wednesday.

It is heading towards the Mozambican coast this weekend.

Nearbouring countries in Southern Africa are watching the system like a hawk.

The Ministry of Environment and Tourism in Botswana, said the system is not expected to affect the country, but a different system entering from a westerly direction, is expected to land on Friday.
