About 9 poachers were arrested at Robben Island this week, by teams from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) and National Parks (SANParks).
They are believed to have visited the island to poach abalone.
But things soon turned dangerous, when the poachers attempted to ram a departmental vessel.
They came face to face with nature teams, but they were overpowered and arrested.
Aucump said “the senseless plundering of our natural resources, comes to an end- whether they like it or not.”
