The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Pemmy Majodina, is expected to officially hand over the Lubisi Water Treatment Works, in the Eastern Cape, on Monday, the 20th February 2025.

The project is a key component of the Cluster 4 Bulk Water Supply Project in the Chris Hani District Municipality.

It is implemented as part of the Department’s Regional Bulk Infrastructure Grant (RBIG).

The Department said in a media alert, the Water Treatment Works will service 96 communities, with an estimated population of 94 307 in the Intsika Yethu, Emalahleni and Sakhisizwe areas.

The project is 90% complete, and is expected to benefit 96 villages with over 133,000 people.
