Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow for additional travel time, as parts of the N3 (between St James Avenue Interchange and the EB Cloete Interchange), will be closed on some nights.
The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL) said the overnight closure, will allow for the removal of temporary support beams, for the construction of a new bridge.
Corné Roux, SANRAL Eastern Region Project Engineer, said “construction continues on the new Rockdale Bridge, following its demolition in August 2024. Removal of the beams supporting its construction is a major step forward to the next phase of opening the bridge to traffic.”
The N3 Westbound Carriageway Closure (Durban to Pinetown), will be closed from Tuesday 02 September 2025 at 8pm, until Wednesday 03 September 2025, at 4am.
The N3 Eastbound Carriageway (Pinetown to Durban), will be closed from Wednesday, the 03 September 2025, from 8pm until Thursday, the 04 September 2025, at 4am.
