7 wildfires broke out overnight, across Muğla Province, southwest of Turkey, affecting Milas, Belek, and popular tourist destination-Antalya.

Forest resorts and hotels near Belek, have evacuated visitors out of the area.

More than 50,000 people, were evacuated in Turkey, since the start of wildfires, in July 2025.

The fires have also burnt in excess of 142 homes, killing 17 people.

Experts from the Global Forest Watch (GFW) say the fires were sparked by a heatwave and extremely dry conditions, and are fuelled by strong winds.

In August, Turkey temporarily shut down the Dardanelles Strait, in an effort to reduce maritime traffic in the north western part of the country.

Various organisations have rescued livestock, pets and wildlife, including IFAW, Angels Farm Sanctuary (Haybap Ferdinand Hayvanlara ve Doğaya Ahbap Derneği), HARK, and a sanctuary in Izmir.

A newly established organisation-Save the Pawties (Empati Hayvan Koruma Kurtarma ve Yaşatma Derneği) in Izmir, has evacuated 60 dogs from fire-impacted communities.
