It could snow in mountain catchments of the Eastern Cape next week.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said an intense cut off low system could bring along rain, snow and very cold temperatures, to the Eastern Cape, as from Wednesday into Friday.
As a result, temperatures are expected to drop to dramatically low single digits.
Affected areas are expected to be mostly high altitude and mountain areas, including Barkly East, Rhodes, Lady Grey, Khowa (Elliot), Ugie, Maclear, Tlokoeng (Mount Fletcher), Middelburg, Nieu-Bethesda, Graaff-Reinet, Cradock, Queenstown, Hogsback, Burgersdorp, Molteno, Jamestown, Dordrecht, Aliwal North, Matatiele and Cedarville.
Members of the public and all small stock farmers are urged to make necessary arrangements.
Areas such as Aliwal North, could have a high of 8°C and a low of 1°C .
