The Euphrates River rising as a result of heavy rains since Friday, triggered  evacuations in eastern Syria.

Ali al-Hamad, director of public relations at the Ministry of Local Administration and Environment, said flooded areas are Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa provinces.

As a result, this has interrupted water and electricity supply, especially in al-Shamiya and al-Jazira.

Guyana

The Government of Guyana is closely monitoring areas affected by heavy and unusual rainfall in Region Eight.

As a result, regional officials were out and about, assessing affected communities. 

Affected areas include roads, bridges, farmlands and other access routes. 

Assessments are expected to guide the deployment of resources and assistance to affected communities. 

Australia 

Thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall developed over southwest Western Australia overnight as a trough and cold front associated with an unusually deep low pressure system moved onshore.

The Bureau of Meteorology said wind gusts in the last 24 hours, were measured at 117 km/h at Cape Leewin, WA, 109 km/h at Busselton Jetty, WA, 107 km/h at Cape Naturaliste, WA, 96 km/h at Mount Barker, WA and 96 km/h at Garden Island, WA.

The highest rainfall totals in the 24 hours were 57m at Capel North, WA, 54mm at Ludlow, WA, 51mm at Busselton, W, 50mm at Worsley, WA and 47mm at Manjimup, WA.
