SA Auto Week is in full swing at the Nelson Mandela Bay’s Coega Vulindlela Accommodation and Conference Centre.

The conference coincides with the Automotive Business Council (Naamsa), 90th anniversary.

Speaking about this event, Babalwa Lobishe, Mayor of the Bay, said “as the Executive Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay, I extend a warm welcome to all delegates, industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders. Hosting SA Auto Week in our Metro is not only a celebration of our rich automotive heritage but also a strategic opportunity to showcase our region’s industrial capabilities, foster new partnerships, and drive inclusive economic growth.”

Nelson Mandela Bay is home to nearly half of South Africa’s automotive manufacturing and components sector, including the Volkswagen Group Africa, Isuzu Motors SA, and Mercedes-Benz.

Themba Koza, Chief Executive Officer of the Coega Development Corporation said “this event reaffirms our position as a gateway to African automotive excellence and a model for re-industrialisation. We are honoured to partner with the Eastern Cape Provincial Government and the Coega Development Corporation in hosting this prestigious gathering.”

Geoff Lee, Absa’s Interim Co-Chief Executive Officer of Personal and Private Banking, agreed, “this has been an incredible event…it brings us together so that we can really spend time with an excess of about 50 CEOs from different parts of the automotive industry, networking, talking about the industry, talking about the opportunities that exist in the industry…”
