Have rains have destroyed homes and displaced people in Ngqushwa and Raymond Mhlaba Municipality, part of the Amathole District Municipality.
The District has alerted residents to a warning issued by the South African Weather Service (SAWS), of more severe thunderstorms in the area on Wednesday.
Areas to be affected are Ngqushwa,Gubevu, Border Post and Kei Road as well as villages in the Raymond Mhlaba.
The Municipality also said it is assessing the extent of the damage.
A District Joint Operations Committee (JOC) is also expected to meet in the morning, alongside humanitarian aid partners, who are are on standby to assist.
