The main fire front was contained, following a successful back burn, in Caledon.
This is despite isolated flare-ups near Tuinsig and behind the Caledon Casino.

The Theewaterskloof Municipality said bulk water infrastructure is no longer under threat.

Fire activity extended into the Nature Garden area, where crews remain active.

The Fire at the R45/ Berg River Dam was also contained.

The Cape Winelands District Municipality’s Fire Services said its teams will stay in the area to continue with monitoring and mopping up activities.

No damage to property was reported there.

NCC Wildfires, Stellenbosch Municipality, Leading Edge Aviation and the South Africa Winelands Fire Protection Association, partnered in extinguishing that fire.

The Fire Chief in the Garden Route, currently on the fireline, in Albertinia, part of the Southern Cape, confirmed that although significant progress was made, due to effective aerial firefighting resources, fire crews are actively working to secure the fire perimeter, with particular focus on areas affected by wind changes and flare-ups.

That is the entire western fireline which is inaccessible to vehicles, due to dense and dry alien invasive vegetation that has contributed to multiple spot fires and re-ignition.

Aerial firefighting resources stood down at 18h00 on Saturday evening.

A number of rondawel thatch roofs were unfortunately impacted by the fire.
