Three people were arrested for being in possession of 1170 units of dried abalone, in the Eastern Cape, on Tuesday this week.

The abalone has an estimated street value of R2.6 million.

The police in Mount Road VISPOL, said this arrest marks a major disruption to the illegal abalone trafficking industry.

The police (SAPS) also urged communities to report any suspicious activities related to the illegal harvesting, transportation, or trade of marine resources.
