A suspect died whilst trying to steal cables at the Booysens facility.
He was found dead inside a medium-voltage electrical chamber at the Booysens Reserve, near the corner of Mentz Street and Booysens Reserve, on Thursday morning.
City Power said it is deeply concerned about yet another fatal electrocution linked to attempted cable theft.
The police(SAPS) completed investigations and cleared the scene for City Power teams to start working at restoring electricity.
“Preliminary investigations revealed signs of tampering with electrical equipment, including a severed neutral conductor, damaged lighting and disturbed electrical cables” said City Power in a statement.
This is the third body found at an electrical facility, following one in February 2026, at a substation in Roodepoort, and another in May, in Fleurhof.
