There could be microbial non-compliance at the Findlay reservoir, since Wednesday.
The City of Tshwane alerted residents to the poor quality of water at that reservoir.
The City also said “an unexpected sewer pipe burst allowed contaminated water to enter the supply system, resulting in microbial levels, that exceeded the capacity of the existing chlorination measures.”
The City also said it isolated the affected source.
Affected areas are Arcadia, Asiatic Bazaar and its Extension 1, Belle Ombre, Cape Boy’s location, Daspoort, Elandspoort, Marabastad, Phillip Nel Park, Pretoria, Pretoria Central, Pretoria extensions 1, 9, 11, 14, Townlands, Prinshof, Skougronde, Sunnyside and Travenna.
Lindela Mashigo, Head of Communications in the City, said residents should discard stored tap water and ice made from it.
“Bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute, before use” she said.
She also said the City would provide water tankers to affected areas.
