The Winelands District Municipality, announced road closures, resulting from heavy downpours, on Sunday afternoon.
Motorists are advised that the Slanghoek low-water bridge is impassable, while the bridge at Scherpenheuwel/Merwestraat is open, but the river is rising rapidly.
Similarly, a low-water bridge in Bonnievale, in the Langeberg, is closed to all traffic.
All residents booked in at Dennebos, in Witzenberg, were checked out by 10:00 am, as a safety precaution.
There, Hope street, Pine Valley and Ceres low water bridges are inaccessible.
Low-lying structures in the informal settlement at Geelkampie are already submerged.
A fallen tree across the Sonstraal Road, was reported in the Drakenstein Municipality.
The Municipality said sandbags were distributed to areas with known flood risk.
The South African Weather Services (SAWS) said rainfall in the Region, could accumulate up to 300 mm.
Some schools in high-risk areas will be closed on Monday.
