The bodies of two visitors were found at the Pafuri section (Nxanatseni North Region) of the Kruger National Park, on Friday, 22 May 2026.
SANParks said in a statement, this follows a search for the two, which began on Thursday evening, when camp staff noticed the tourists had not returned.
The two were found near a river, by other tourists.
SANParks said the matter was referred to the Police who will conduct further investigations.
Willie Aucamp, the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) expressed his deep sadness following the incident.
He said “the Department and SANParks will continue to cooperate fully with the South African Police Service as investigations continue.”
