A crane truck was immobilised on the MR588 at Sakrivier Bridge, between Fraserburg and Loxton, due to an electrical fault.
As a result, the vehicle is currently stranded at the bridge.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area where possible and to exercise extreme caution when travelling in the vicinity.
The Department of Road Works in the Northern Cape, urged road users travelling between Fraserburg and Carnarvon, to utilise the MR566, which forms part of the R308 route, as an alternative route, until further notice.
The Department is actively attending to the situation.
The Johannesburg Metro Police requested motorists to exercise caution, on the N12 Westbound, immediately after the Voortrekker Road off-ramp, due to a fire and smoke there.
This is causing traffic congestion and reduced visibility.
The JMPD said reduced visibility may affect driving conditions and that motorists should preferably slow down, increase following distances, and remain alert.
