A man was arrested for being in possession of copper cables in Tshwane on Tuesday.
The suspect was caught red-handed by the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Drug Unit, peeling suspected municipal electricity cables at his place of residence in Soshanguve.
The TMPD also said it arrested 20 undocumented foreign nationals in Centurion for contravening the Immigration Act 13 of 2002.
The individuals were arrested during a by-laws enforcement operation, which was conducted at Raslouw, Heuweloord and Hennopspark.
The Gauteng Department of community safety said two suspects involved in robbing couriers were killed in a shootout with the police, in Boksburg.
The Department said further investigations revealed that both the suspects and their recovered vehicles were linked to numerous serious crimes, including armed robberies, an attempted murder case registered in Norwood, and a courier robbery in Germiston, where courier security personnel were shot and injured.
The Department said various agencies were involved in the arrest of the two, including SAPS Crime Intelligence Head Office MDOC, SAPS Gauteng TRT, SAPS DPC Tracking Team, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, CAP Specialised Operations, Tracker Connect, and Gemini Global Defense.
