The Manufacturing Indaba gets underway in Sandton as from Tuesday.
Organisers (Siyenza Management) said the event will be attended by governments, businesses, investors and innovators, aiming to transform Africa from a supplier of raw materials into a globally competitive manufacturing powerhouse.
“The phrase “Made in Africa” reflects a growing movement to build industrial capacity, create jobs and position Africa as a key player in global value chains. It is also a vision that lies at the heart of Manufacturing Indaba, Africa’s leading manufacturing event.”
Discussions are expected to centre around beneficiation and local value addition in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) which represents one of the biggest opportunities for manufacturers, regional integration and cross-border collaboration, rapid transformation through automation, artificial intelligence, digitalisation and Industry 4.0 technologies.
More engagement will centre around energy security, logistics, infrastructure, access to finance and policy certainty across African markets.
